Jermell Charlo v Brian Castano

With an 18,000 seater arena expected to be close to full, this will be very interesting for both fighters. Atmospheres have become a novelty in professional sport after the COVID-19 pandemic, so seeing how both warriors react to the roar of the crowd should be very interesting indeed.

With Charlo a Houston resident, expect him to have the majority of the home support on his side. With a 34-1 record, with 18 KOs, Charlo has the better record of the duo as well. Holding the IBF, WBA, and WBC belts, the Texas resident will be looking to beat 17-0-1 WBO Junior Middleweight champion Castano to claim all four belts.

Charlo is on a 3-fight winning streak, too, beating the likes of Tony Harrison and Jorge Cota to get here. He recaptured his WBCV title in a December 2019 bout with Harrison, and took the two belts from Jeison Rosario to claim three of the four belts up for grabs.

Castano, though, destroyed Patrick Teixeira in his previous fight, winning in a 12-round unanimous victory. His incredible inside game makes him a threat to Charlo, and his stamina and record of going 12-rounds makes him a terrifying opponent.

Charlo lacks inside fighting experience for prolonged periods, so that could be a major deciding factor in the fight. With Charlo at -265 and Castano +200, we think that betting on the latter might be a good choice for boxing fans who understand the value of a solid, consistent inside game.

Rolando Romero vs Austin Dulay

On the undercard of this fight, we’ve also got two great match-ups. One such match-up involves Rolando Romero taking on Austin Dulay. Romero is a rising name within the Mayweather Productions group, and holds an excellent 13-0 record, including 11 KOs. He won the interim title against Jackson Marinez, and dismantled Avery Sparrow in a Round 7 TKO.

Dulay, by contrast, holds a 14-2 record, with 10 KOs on his record. He’s won three out of his last four, but defeating Romero would without doubt be a major career highlight. With all of the confidence and ability to put the match away, the 25-year-old – who last fought in November 2020, defeating Jose Gallegos via unanimous decision – will look to overcome his loss to Diego Magdaleno.

This is an interesting match-up, with two knockout machines coming up against each other who know how to hit with ferocity. However, Romero is easily the more powerful of the two, and his sheer prowess as well as his exceptional stamina makes him an interesting match-up for Dulay.

Dulay needs to make this one count, as recent form – while impressive – has seen some put him out of the talking points when it comes to looking at the top fighters in the weight class.
